BMW reinforced rear shock absorber mounts

BMWs E30, E36, E46, Z3 and Z4 are known for their excellent chassis balance, but they share a major weakness in the original rear shock absorber mounts. Designed with rubber bushes, these mounts tend to deform and compress under load, particularly on vehicles equipped with sport suspensions, threaded bushes or dynamic driving.

MACOTE reinforced rear shock absorber cups are a must-have mechanical upgrade for those seeking performance from their BMW. It's a real upgrade, not just an OEM replacement. They combine a aluminum frame with high-performance polyurethane bushings, This allows us to drastically reduce parasitic movement and play with the original brackets.

Unlike rubber, polyurethane has a much more stable/linear compression, keeping the shock absorber perfectly in position, even under heavy load. Result:

• a rear shock absorber that works properly,

• more precise suspension,

• more consistent roadholding,

• and the gradual disappearance of slamming back often caused by wear on OEM brackets.

In addition to this improvement, we strongly recommend reinforcing the structure of the rear shock towers. Indeed, this modification induces more stress on the already fragile shock towers. To protect the rear shock towers, you can install reinforcement plates shock absorber towers to limit the risk of frame deformation or cracking over the long term.
